Volunteering:
Volunteering gives a feeling that you cannot receive from gaining mere possessions. When I tutor children at the library, I feel like I can change their lives for the better. I could give them an opportunity to do better in school and actually enjoy learning. I feel extremely happy when I spend half an hour trying to explain a problem to a child and they could finally understand how to do the problem. Volunteering at the nursery home is equally rewarding. I love seeing the elderly people smile as I play a balloon toss with them. I feel like I could make their day a little less dull and less lonely. I love volunteering in my community because the people that I help all have their own stories to tell. While the stories of the children are more innocent and based on their day to day activities, the story of the elderly are more reflective and nostalgic. I would definitely recommend everyone to volunteer; it becomes addicting and the rewards (the feelings you receive) are exceptional!
